ARTIST BIO
Therisha Santos, known as Sha, is a Toronto based artist. Primarily a printmaker, Sha mainly focuses on screen printing, relief, and intaglio. Aside from printmaking, she is also a painter and illustrator who works with acrylic paints, both traditional and unconventional drawing materials, and in digital art. Known for her obsession with circles and the theme of limitlessness, Sha uses tangible shapes to advocate for incomprehensible feelings or ideologies.
Boldly criticizing socially constructed paths forged by society, such as the ‘stages of grief’, Sha began drawing with bodily fluids such as human blood in her second year of Art School and continues to explore this medium in her personal studies. During times of grief or depression, her art practice has helped her consciously work through times of distress and fear.
Sha has spent her years in university doing commissions and designing logos for small companies. Her paintings and prints have been featured in a couple of group shows within the Special Projects Gallery as well as the Gales Gallery at York University. Her work had also been exhibited at the Markham Public Library in 2017, she was also interviewed for Snapd, a local newspaper. She has worked alongside art teachers and gave lectures as well as one on one critiques for grade 12 high school students building their art portfolio.
